One World Week
The children are having a fantastic time in One World week!
So far, we have taken part in Russian dancing, had a workshop on Africa with a focus on Nigeria and made pizza in class. We are thoroughly enjoying the week and can't wait to take part in the rest of our activities!
Pictures will be following shortly!
The children are also working hard to prepare for our end of Key Stage tests. We have covered a range of genres in Literacy and we are working on our mental maths skills.
November 2010
Our Chocolate topic has begun and the children thoroughly enjoyed our introductory tasting session! Although, some of the chocolate tasted, wasn't to the children's taste!
We tasted white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate with an increasing percentage of cocoa soilds- 39%, 70% and 85%!
The tasting session focused on analysing the quality of the chocolate through, smell, taste and appearance. We were also looking for a loud 'snap' when we broke the chocolate.
Inbetween tasting each piece of chocolate, the children had a drink of water to help cleanse their palette!
We will be taking part in a workshop which is being run by the Ministry of Chocolate. The workshop will cover the history of chocolate, how it is made- from bean to bar, Fairtrade issues in relation to the growing of the beans and a cooking session. Future lessons will then go into more detail on these subjects!
Welcome Back!
We’ve had a busy start over the past few weeks! We are currently learning about different explorers and what life at sea was like. In literacy, we are writing biographies about our friends and families.
In PE we are lucky to have the services of a badminton coach who will be with us for the next few weeks. We've had our first two lessons and everyone is thoroughly enjoying themselves!
Photographs to follow shortly!
Homework/Spellings
Spelling tests will continue to take place on Friday mornings and any homework given out will be recorded in Homework Diaries.
One World Board
It is our turn to contribute to the display for the One World Board. Children have been asked to bring any interesting articles they have seen in the news, about current events around the world.
