Spring term 2010

The first part of this term was filled with lots of activities which related to our hearts.

We looked at how to keep our hearts healthy and how they actually work. Lots of the class were very interested and spent time out of class researching for their work. They came up with lots of fascinating facts, many of them beyond what they need to know in KS2!!!

It also coincided, of course, with Valentine’s Day. Everyone made heart shapes with ‘heart facts’ on them.

The instruments we made in Design and Technology have also made a great display in the classroom.

The homework for the second half of the spring term is linked to the ‘Earth and Beyond’ topic and it is to produce a project entitled ‘Our Solar System’.

Already most people have become very enthused and are coming in to school with all manner of amazing facts. Hopefully their finished work will be equally fascinating to read!

There is a programme on BBC2 currently called ‘The Wonders of the Solar System.’ It is not intended to be a programme aimed at children but many of the class seem to have enjoyed it. (The presenter is very enthusiastic himself!). It is on TV on Sunday night at 9.00pm (a bit late!) but repeated on Tuesdays at 7.00pm.

Reminder: Projects due in at the end of this half term.
