French has been part of the curriculum for two years now and the children in KS2 still look forward to their dedicated weekly lessons with great enthusiasm. Lessons are mainly practical including games, songs, rhymes and drama which the children find fun and engaging.
If you click on the link below you will see a selection of work that is a culmination of a series of lessons about hobbies and the children's likes and dislikes. It shows a range of abilities with some children creating their sentences using the basic vocabulary given during the lessons and others using French dictionaries to find vocabulary themselves and also including knowledge gained in previous units of work.
We are all very proud of the children's achievements and feel that French is a wonderful source of enrichment and enjoyment for the children in our school.

I like French because we sing songs. My favourite song is “Salut ça va?” Also the songs help me to learn. We play fun games.

I like French lessons because they are fun. I’ve learnt a lot. It’s good learning French because if you go to France you will know what to say and you will know what they are saying.

I love French, it’s my best lesson. I do think it’s a bit hard but it is fun to do. I liked the lesson about the days of the week.

I really enjoy French. I think I know a lot of French now. Sometimes it is hard to memorise the words. I like watching the French DVD and when we play the French games. I enjoy French a lot.

I think French is good, sometimes it’s hard to remember words but after a while I get it. Some of it is really fun like when we play games to help us. We have learnt a lot and we can have a conversation and more. I like doing songs and rhymes to help too.

I really enjoy French because I find learning another language really interesting. I also like it because Mrs Walker makes it really fun. In between each French subject it is especially good because she will do songs and raps in French and she will give us names of French websites to look on, to find songs, raps, etc.

I enjoy doing French because we get to have a lot of fun during the lessons. Sometimes we get to make cards and French foods like a chocolate log. When we have fun, we also learn a lot of things like the lesson when we learned the months of the year and at the same time we learnt a song too.
